Hi, I’m Jonathan!
For as long as I’ve known, I’ve wanted to make a living from my art. As a child, I hung round with a bunch of brainy friends and was always known as “the arty one”. I didn’t mind but as is often the way, art as a career wasn’t really encouraged at school and so I stepped into the world of graphic design – something that made me just a little more employable!
It took me well over 30 years and 3+ years of running my own business as a graphic designer, to finally take the plunge and go after my dream illustration career. I never quite had the confidence to believe that I could do it until I realised that if I didn’t finally do something about it, I probably never would and would likely regret it forever.
So this is my creative home on the web and it’s where I post my best pieces and some of my work in progress (on the blog). I hope you like it – if you do, please let me know in the comments on the blog – an artist always likes nice feedback
If you’re an art director or agent, I’d love to hear from you. As someone who has worked in the corporate world and run my own business, I’m good at the business-side of things like deadlines, professionalism and integrity.
I’m available for all types of commissions, including illustrations for:
- Wildlife and nature magazines such as National Geographic
- Promotional materials for organisations such as the World Wildlife Fund
- Children’s book illustrations
- Mythical beasts & fantasy creature illustrations for art licensing
My work has been featured in the following places to date:
- The Big Book of Contemporary Illustration
- PSDTUTS – the largest Photoshop tutorial site on the web
Please get in touch if you’d like to talk about working with me in any capacity.
