Due to human interference, the number of these magnificent creatures is in rapid decline.
Whether it be the disgraceful demand for shark fins or getting caught in the nets of commercial fishing boats, despite their fearsome image, sharks are extremely vulnerable.
Sharks (if left alone) live for a long time and mature late, which means if they are killed early, never get chance to reproduce. This will ultimately result in the extinction of these wonderful creatures.

This Giant Anteater is one of the collages I enjoyed working on the most from my new book (due out this month) – they are such beautiful creatures and it was a challenge that I relished trying to re-create their distinctive markings and long bushy tails in cut paper collage.

Can’t quite believe it’s 2013 already – Happy New Year everyone, wishing you all much success and happiness in 2013.
It’s going to be an exciting year with my first children’s book released in February (featuring the howler monkey from this month’s desktop), our second child due in May, big plans for Jonathan Woodward Studio and another special project that has been brewing for a long time (watch out for more news on that soon).
Thanks again to everyone that emailed, commented, Facebook liked or tweeted kind words throughout 2012, they were all very much appreciated.

We have big plans for ‘Then There Were None’ in 2013 and have finally settled on what Lea (my wife) and I will be doing with it. It will involve endangered animals (obviously), something to help kids learn more about the not so obvious creatures under threat and hopefully help raise a bit of money along the way for the cause too.
