Frequently Asked Questions

How much do your illustration services cost?

This is one of the most common but toughest questions to answer! It usually depends on a number of factors including:

  • What you need illustrating
  • Complexity of the illustration you want
  • The time frame you’re working to

To give you a rough idea, a custom illustration to be used on a website banner usually starts from around £250.

Can you illustrate in any style?

Mostly, yes but I specialise in the traditional collage style (check out my portfolio for examples) which is what I’m really passionate about. While I can create digital illustrations and other traditional pencil/painted illustrations, you will be probably get better results finding an illustrator who specialises in those styles. If collage is what you’re after however, I’m your man!

How long will it take for you to create my illustration?

It depends! I will advise you of the time frame of your project when I send a quote but I can usually work to the time frames you need. I do charge an additional fee for any rush jobs e.g. if you need something completed within the next 72 hours, that’s a rush job.

What happens next? How does this work?

As soon as you submit your RFP (Request for Proposal), I’ll take a look and get back to you with a quote if I think I can help. Once you’ve agreed to proceed, I’ll ask you for a 50% deposit before scheduling your project in and begin to work on it.

I’ll also provide you with a proposed time line so you know what/when I’ll need from you and what to expect from me when. Once I’ve worked on your initial concept and sketches, I’ll send them over with some basic explanation of what I’ve done and why.

When you sign off the concept, I’ll proceed to complete the final illustration and then send over the final digital files in whatever format you/your printer needs.

How many concepts/mock-ups will I get?

You’ll get one. I’ve found from experience that I usually get it right first time and would rather send you my ‘ultimate’ concept from the start into which I’ve put all my expertise, experience and effort. If I don’t get it right first time, I’ll send you my “sketch” pad to see if there are any other ideas which you’d like to work up. This may incur an additional fee.

What file formats do you provide?

I can provide illustrator EPS files, jpg files or whatever file format you need.

Do you send me the original illustration?

This can be arranged although I will usually just send you a high resolution scan of the illustration for printing. If you would like to receive the original collage, this will need to be agreed before the project commences.

Sounds great! How do I get started?

If you’d like to get started, please submit an RFP and I’ll be in touch as soon as we can to discuss your project.
